Mangalore, named after local deity Mangaladevi also called Port city of Indian state of Karnataka is situated between Arabian Sea and Western Ghat mountain ranges. Lying on the backwaters of the Netravati and Gurupura rivers, the city is located about 350kms from its State Capital Bangalore and it is administrative headquarters of the Dakshina Kannada (formerly known as South Canara) district in the South Western Karnataka.
